Fusion

This collection is based on the 2009 Hand and Lock brief Modern Goddess: Travel Fusion, which has inspired the theme of Indian textiles, influencing colour, techniques and fabric choice. The collection is an eclectic mix of pattern evoking the richness of Indian fabrics by using applied sequins, beads, pearls and jewels creating exquisite surfaces. The design imagery is influenced by Indian and Western architecture, such as rose windows, they have a floral decadence which is almost geometric in style and has visual references to that of the lotus flower. These geoflorals when combined with other motifs reproduced in various embroidery techniques, for example chain stitch, kantha work and hand embellishments create ornate fabrics inspired by sari fashions with metallic flashes with a sense of detail. Raw silks, muslins and chiffons in rich tones of magenta, mustard, ochre, orange and black combined with metallic elements gives a fun palette for Spring/Summer.
